Module 3.5
Your Role with Safe
If you are joining the operations team in a role that involves financial operations, you may be added as one of the Safe signers. This is an honorable position of responsibility and trust. You will need to have a non-custodial wallet (ideally secured by hardware if large amounts are at stake) added to the Safe as an owner. Make sure to keep your wallet safe (again, hardware wallets are recommended for Safe signers). Also, understand the governance: only use your signing authority for legitimate and approved organizational purposes. Every signature you give is like co-signing a company check.
If you are not a signer, you should still know how to view the Safe’s activity. The Safe address can be plugged into a block explorer to see all transactions. Additionally, you can access the Safe read-only via the interface to monitor pending transactions, if transparency is needed. Bittrees encourages openness, so even non-signers can be given the Safe address and track what’s happening with the treasury in real time.
These tools are always evolving, and it’s good to be aware that Bittrees might adopt such tools, linking our governance votes to the Safe for seamless execution.
In summary, multi-signature wallets via Safe are a critical component of DAO operations, balancing decentralization (no single controller) with security and control. As an operations team member, proficiency with Safe ensures you can securely manage the organization’s assets in line with our collaborative governance processes.
